The Silo: An American Dream Story

About The Owners:

Hi! my name is "OOGO" (Yes, it's Hugo but in Spanish). I was born and raised in Colombia. I came to Tulsa as an international student, and casually started teaching friends and classmates at ORU how to dance Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and other steps typical of Colombian culture. What I didn't anticipate is that my teaching style would become so popular, a few years later I had over 500 people coming to my "salsa parties." At those parties I exchanged knowledge with several groups of dancers, becoming fluent in ballroom, two-step and swing dancing, among others. Then I started to get request to do events and weddings, as I became the matchmaker to many of my friends future marriages, which led to the start of a career in the wedding industry as a DJ. In 2010 I started LionsRoad Studios, and before long I created a team of DJs that got all the way to the top of the charts in the wedding industry.

On a personal note, In 2007 I married the love of my life, Erica, and we have 3 children 11 and under, who keep us busy and bring us joy, among other intense emotions at times, ha! Faith and family values are at the center of everything we do. We are far from perfect, but we're kind, humble, strong, and quick too repent and correct course when we're in the wrong.

In 2017 I had the opportunity of purchasing the Silo, which took a year and tons of paperwork, but by February of 2018 I had the keys and I was on a mission.

What mission? To make the silo into the place where couples would be proud to have their weddings, and transform it into a modern-rustic treasure, which would take months and lots of love, sweat and tears to accomplished. My family and I have virtually touched every surface of the venue to make it into the beauty it is today. By January of 2020 we were finally done remodeling and started to make some money, but then, as you know, the pandemic hit and the most intense trial of our lives started. We survived the difficulties of the shutdown, and ocean of cancellations and postponements, lots of staff drama and the changing of work ethic in America, and by the grace of God we are still here to be a blessing to any and all of you who want to find peace and refuge from the storms of life, and celebrate the good and amazing occasions that life brings us. That is the summary of my hope and vision for the Silo: to bring peace and joy to every couple who honors us with their wedding day. To create an atmosphere where love is celebrated and cherished, and where epic memories are made for posterity. If that resonates with you, no matter where you are or who you are, you are more than welcome here, and we would love to serve you. The silo and LionsRoad are part of my American dream come true, and I would love to put them both to work on making your dreams come true.

Con Amor,

Hugo Gutierrez - Owner
